I'm an American psychotherapist based in Singapore, the first certified Relational Life Therapist (RLT) in Asia, and the author of Rethink the Couch (Penguin Random House SEA). After more than fifteen years of practice in Hong Kong and now Singapore, here's what has my attention right now.
Focusing entirely on relationships
My practice used to support people with both relationship and workplace challenges. These days I've narrowed it to the work I love most: relationships. I practice Relational Life Therapy, the method pioneered by Terry Real, and a lot of my current thinking is about why neutral, side-stepping couples therapy so often stalls. RLT asks the therapist to gather the data and then take a side, and I keep coming back to how much more honest that is for the couples I see.
Writing from the stories my work has given me
Reflecting on my clients and the people I've worked with over the years keeps pulling me back to the page. My book grew out of leading Hong Kong's first therapy group for male refugees and asylum seekers, and I'm still writing about the lessons that work left me with: dignity, belonging, and a reverence for every human story. I believe everyone we work with hands us a gift, even if it sometimes arrives in difficult wrapping.
Bringing therapy to people across Asia and beyond
At Rethink The Couch, I work online, which lets me support individuals and couples across Asia and beyond. I believe therapy doesn't have to be stuffy or stale, so I aim for something fresh, creative, and collaborative. Whether you're facing communication breakdowns, intimacy issues, or just feeling disconnected from a partner, I'm here to help you rethink what's possible.
